In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $135,000.00
Maximum $145,000.00
Job Summary
Manages the Universitys Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and databases it interfaces with. Plans, coordinates, and manages upgrades and changes to the Banner system. Provides technical management, direction and support to staff programmers. This position is critical to the performance of the University and requires the ability to work with confidential data. Reports directly to the Senior Database Administrator in the Enterprise Applications & Databases (EAD) IT subunit.

Demonstrated project planning, coordination experience and follow through combined with understanding of technical architecture, and integration with web applications. Excellent verbal and written communication is essential for the job. Organizational skills and supervisory ability to direct the technical staff after consultation with the Sr. DBA and Director of Enterprise Applications & Databases. Exceptional interpersonal skills to represent the EAD to the campus community. Ability to show how the business system fits into the Universitys overall goals, efficiency, and cost savings. Experience in development and maintenance of multiple database management systems (DBMS), including but not limited to Oracle, SQL Server, and FoxPro. Experience in production database availability, DBMS monitoring and tuning, production on-call support, database procedure analysis, development and implementation, database security support, DBMS tool indication and support, database software maintenance, and database integrity assurance. Experienced in development of automated administration processes, logical and physical data models in response to users requirements. Thorough understanding and awareness of industry trends and application, database component change management, data warehouse support and DBMS extensibility support is required. Additionally, the DBA must have a good grasp of maintaining the necessary database infrastructure to support controlled software migrations. Be able to work with individual users and user groups daily to identify and resolve implementation and usage issues. Be able to develop strategic plans for long term evolution of the Banner and the Universitys business systems, and other databases. Experience with development and implementation of ERP system software, in particular Banner, in medium or large organizations, with software development using C/C++, Cobol, SQL, Java, Visual Basic, and others with long term software maintenance activities is a major plus.

Required Qualifications
EDUCATION: A Bachelors degree from an accredited four year college plus advanced training such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 10 years direct experience with main-frame, or department computers (excluding PCs or Windows servers). A minimum of 3 years as Oracle DBA in a large scale academic or IT industry environment combined with 3 years experience with Dell servers, UNIX/Linux operating systems, and UNIX/Linux based software products.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 10 years direct experience with main-frame, or department computers (excluding PCs or Windows servers). A minimum of 3 years as Oracle DBA in a large scale academic or IT industry environment combined with 3 years experience with Dell servers, UNIX/Linux operating systems, and UNIX/Linux based software products.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Information Technology or Information Systems is a plus.
