Position Summary
JOB SUMMARY:
The Application Administrator (AA) is the person responsible to ensure the Starfish platform meets the business objectives for which the system was implemented. The AA keeps up-to-date with system features and functionality and works with the IT system administration team (ITSA) to implement appropriate changes and updates to the system. The AA provides end user support, gathers and documents user requirements, creates and maintains system documentation, understands system and data interdependencies, and analyzes and improves software usability and functionality. The AA manages and triages internal platform questions and works at the direction of the technical owner of the application (Director of Enterprise Systems) and in support of the program owner (Dean of Student Success).
This position is a hands-on position, requiring knowledge and familiarity with the Starfish platform and strong interpersonal and communication skills. This position requires the ability to solve problems by utilizing documentation and online user communities, as well as reaching out to vendors and support contacts.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Coordinate Starfish platform for student success, including collaborations with:
- Faculty
- Institutional Research
- Academic Achievement Center
- First Year Advising o Admissions
- Academic & Student Affairs
- Act as the department point person for communication and coordination with the ITSA
- Collaborate with the ITSA on non-technical issues
- Review release notes (provided by ITSA) relating to upgrades and patches and coordinate with ITSA to schedule updates
- Test updates in development environment prior to deployment in production system as appropriate
- Review all feature updates and ensure that they are being utilized if appropriate for the organization
- Ensure that secure and sensitive data including PIRN (Personal Information Requiring Notification) is being restricted to only those individuals who require access
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data
- Control and prioritize all Starfish business requests that are submitted to IT to ensure that limited IT resources are spending their time on high-value requests
- Review all change requests related to the system for potential conflicts with business or operational requirements and change management procedures
- Approve and manage new user accounts and changes to existing user accounts and review all accounts and access biannually
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Tier Structure
This is a Tier 3 - fully 100% remote
Work Hours: 20 Regular business hours Monday - Friday 8:30AM - 4:30PM EST. Remote position
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in an IT related field or with system support knowledge)
Technology skills:
- Knowledge and experience (1-3 years) troubleshooting and supporting the Starfish platform, learning management system, or similarly complex system
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining system documentation
- Experience with requirements gathering and analyzing user technical and functional needs
Other Requirements of the Job:
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn new computer applications quickly, effectively, and with little formal training.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; patience and experience in working with non-technical users and must be self-starter, resourceful, and a team player
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Higher education experience a plus
- Strong verbal communication and writing skills
